Two Zimbabwean branches in Kadoma and two branches in Chegutu, neighboring cites about two hours southwest of Harare, were organized into the Kadoma District on Sunday, December 10. Under the direction of President T. Jackson Mkabela of the Zimbabwe Harare Mission, the four local branches, formerly mission branches and not part of any district, were grouped to form the newest district in this southern African nation.

The new district president is Tatenda Heavens Chiore, and his first counselor is Renos Jakarasi; his second counselor is Givemore Zaronga. Counselors to President Mkabela, President Albert Mutariswa and President Albert Wicho, assisted with forming the new district and spoke at the meeting.
The Kadoma chapel was bulging with between 350 and 400 people, and enthusiasm was high as the new presidency spoke of their goal to work toward the organization of stake, which is the equivalent of a diaocese and comprises of multiple congregations, wards or branches.
Growth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kadoma and Chegutu has been rapid, especially the latter city, since the first branch was organized only two or three years ago.
Fervent testimonies were borne by the wife of president Chiore and others, and President Mkabela delivered a spiritually powerful sermon on reading the Handbook of Instructions so the Saints can learn how to carry out their callings. He spoke of his days as an early convert to the Church and how the Handbook, along with the scriptures and general conference talks, grew to be sources of his spiritual growth and confidence in carrying out his duties.
